Horticulture accounts for 18% of the total value of agricultural production in the EU and is expected to significantly grow due to the rising demand for high-quality crops and plants. However, global climate change poses serious challenges to horticulture. Digital technologies offer promising opportunities to effectively protect horticultural crops from climatic changes, pests and diseases, to ensure their health and volatility in the EU.

SmartAgriHubs - Digital Innovation Hub

SmartAgriHubs is a €20 million EU project under the Horizon 2020 funding programme. The project brings together a consortium of 164+ partners in the European agri-food sector. It aims to implement the digitization of European agriculture by fostering an agricultural innovation ecosystem dedicated to excellence, sustainability, and success. The development and adoption of digital solutions are achieved by an ecosystem of 140 Digital Innovation Hubs embedded within 9 Regional Clusters.

Through our Digital Innovation Hub “Digital innovation for adapting horticulture to climate change” we offer innovation services to various agri-food stakeholders (e.g., start-ups, SMEs, large companies, science, authorities, and associations) to promote digital innovations and their transfer into horticultural practice. We support the whole innovation process including subsidies, network management, technology transfer, innovation and process management, commercial consulting as well as equity capital, life-cycle assessment, and corporate innovation service.

Forming of Project Consortium

With the right project partners, you can integrate important know-how into your R&D project fast or establish strategic partnerships for subsequent product sales. EurA boasts a large number of contacts at almost all national universities and a large variety of companies.

Access to Finance

The funding check identifies suitable European and national funding opportunities for you and serves as a strategic orientation for your R&D activities. The goal is the selection of suitable funding opportunities.

LCA

We support companies by analyzing their internal processes and product manufacturing systems for their potentially negative environmental impact. Hot spots of negative environmental impacts are identified and can be used as a basis for further technological development.

Project Conception

We provide support for you and your research project during the application process. This includes the rough structuring of the project with regard to personnel planning, work package planning and other resources. We guide you through the entire project conception.

Proposal Development

We make sure all formal and legal requirements are met during applications to individual programmes. We oversee the application process and support with completing the list of required documents and appendixes; communication with the project sponsor, processing of subsequent requests and files in terms of technology and business management.
