What is a carbon footprint?

A carbon footprint – also known as greenhouse gas balance, CO2 balance or climate balance – records all greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) caused by a company or a product. A distinction is made between

  • Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) – emissions of the company, and
  • Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) – emissions along the life cycle of a product

What makes a verified carbon footprint so valuable

Strengthen credibility: A verified carbon footprint in accordance with ISO 14064-3 shows that you are serious about climate protection – and creates trust among customers, investors and partners.

Ensure legal certainty: The verification creates a reliable basis for external environmental and sustainability statements – in line with legal requirements for verifiable and transparent communication.

Utilise competitive advantages: Verified emission data makes your sustainability performance visible – and can serve as a differentiator for a strengthened market position.

Recognise efficiency potential: By analysing your emission sources in detail, you can identify potential savings and take targeted measures.

Convincingly substantiate funding applications: Verified emission data strengthens the validity of applications and demonstrates climate protection ambitions.
