The EIC Accelerator is one of the most exciting funding programmes for deeptech startups and innovative SMEs. However, after the last known deadline on 5 October 2022, many interested parties are now asking themselves, what will happen to the programme in 2023?
The good news right at the beginning: the freezing of the budget for 2023 was not implemented by the European Parliament. The EIC Accelerator will continue in 2023!
And what about the deadlines? The underlying work programme for 2023 is currently being finalised and is expected to be published between mid and end November 2022. Nevertheless, we can already communicate the expected deadlines for 2023:
However, whether the January deadline in 2023 will take place depends very much on the finalisation and publication of the work programme. If this were to happen too late, it is probable that the January deadline won’t happen (as was already the case this year).
However, it is important to bear in mind that the deadlines are only relevant for the 2nd stage of the application process (full proposal). The short application (1st stage) can be submitted at any time and is evaluated on an ongoing basis. After a maximum of four weeks, applicants will receive written feedback and can then apply for a deadline for the 2nd stage in the next 12 months. Don't forget the 3rd stage, the interview, which takes place about 5-6 weeks after the deadline.
In addition to the open-topic deadline, 2023 will bring many new challenges. Preliminary and not yet confirmed challenges could be:
The EIC Accelerator supports SMEs and startups that want to further develop disruptive, high-risk innovations and bring them to the international market. The funding programme offers financial support via grants (up to 2.5M€) and equity capital (up to 15M€).
