Following the unannounced closure of the former EIC AI Platform on 2 June and the restructuring of the EIC Accelerator application process, Stage 1 applicants have had to wait to submit their short applications. In a press release issued by the European Innovation Council (EIC) at the time, it was stated that the regular Horizon Europe Funding and Tenders Portal would be made available to Stage 2 applicants (full proposal and annexes) and that the submission of new applications would have to be paused for the time being. A new portal for the submission of short proposals was promised for mid-July.

Now the time has come. This morning, the new IT platform for short applications to the EIC Accelerator went online. Applicants now have the opportunity to submit their short application - consisting of a questionnaire about their company and innovation, together with their pitch deck and introductory video - to the EIC. SMEs and start-ups that are developing their cutting-edge technology close to the market are still eligible to apply.

Short applications (stage 1) will continue to be evaluated within four weeks. Successful applicants will then have up to one year to prepare a full proposal, including a financial planning and various annexes (stage 2). The next and last deadline for project applications in 2023 is 4 October.
