With its state strategy ‘Sustainable Bioeconomy’, Baden-Württemberg already gave the impetus for an economy based on renewable and biological resources in 2019 and placed the focus on innovative development. With the funding programmes ‘Zukunft Biogas Plus’ (Future Biogas Plus) and ‘Innovationsmotor’ (Innovation Engine), two new calls for proposals for the bioeconomy in Baden-Württemberg were launched in 2025.

About the ‘Zukunft Biogas Plus’ (Future Biogas Plus) programme

Companies based in Baden-Württemberg that want to invest in innovative plants or processes in the biogas sector or in a biogas pipeline at least 300 m long are eligible to apply. The technology must offer a techno-economic or social advantage over conventional plants.

Applications can be submitted on 1 July and 1 September. Companies can receive grants of between €50,000 and €1,200,000, with a maximum funding rate of 45%. The implementation period is 36 months.

Personnel costs, material and equipment expenses, external services and costs for instruments and equipment are eligible for funding.

This is a single-stage process with one application and one approval procedure.

More info on the funding programme and how to apply is available on the website of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Food, Rural Affairs and Consumer Protection (MLR) under the funding call Zukunft Biogas Plus.
