The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK) is continuing to promote energy-efficient refrigeration and air conditioning systems as part of the National Climate Initiative's (NKI) Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Directive. The initiative is part of the government's efforts to promote climate protection and reduce energy consumption. Companies benefit from the amendment to the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Directive in several ways: The funding amount for energy-efficient refrigeration and air conditioning systems has increased and the efficient retrofitting of small systems is a new subject of funding.

From 1 March 2024 up to and including 31 December 2026, companies can once again submit applications for funding. The funding amount is limited to 200,000 euros per measure and a maximum of 50% of the eligible expenditure. The funding amount must be calculated individually for each measure.

Funding is available for various measures to increase the energy efficiency of stationary refrigeration and air conditioning systems that are operated with non-halogenated refrigerants. These measures include:
  • Installation of refrigeration units and recooling systems
  • Installation of heat pumps for waste heat utilisation
  • Retrofitting dry coolers as pre-coolers or free coolers
  • Installation of components and systems
  • Integration of systems for utilising renewable energies
  • Efficiency retrofitting of small systems

The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Directive has been in place since 2008. With the renewed continuation of the associated funding, the BMWK is sending an important signal in favour of climate protection and supporting companies in implementing energy-efficient technologies and making a contribution to environmental protection.

EurA is at your side throughout the entire application process. We not only support you with all questions relating to energy consulting, but also help you with the application process, the calculation of the possible funding amount and ensure a smooth process when calling up the funding. Use this opportunity to make your company more sustainable and make a positive contribution to our environment together with us.
