EurA in Italy

Italy is the third-largest economy in the Eurozone, with a domestic market of around 60 million inhabitants and a GDP per capita of approximately €36,300 (2023). About 4.4 million companies make up Italy's entrepreneurial landscape. Its most important trading partner is Germany, accounting for roughly 13% of exports and about 16% of imports.

Dr. Mauricio Chaves-Vargas currently leads EurA Italia. He studied aerospace engineering at the RWTH Aachen University and subsequently earned his doctorate at the Institute of Structural Mechanics and Lightweight Design (SLA). Since October 2020, Dr. Chaves-Vargas has been working at EurA, where he oversees, among other responsibilities, projects in the aerospace sector, including assignments for the European Space Agency (ESA).

EurA in Italy is operative from the Tecnopolo Tiburtino in Rome, where more than 150 companies are based. The Tecnopolo Tiburtino is located in Rome’s main high-tech and innovation district, centered along Via Tiburtina and encompassing large international companies such as Thales Alenia Space, Telespazio, Leonardo and Rheinmetall.

The Tecnopolo Tiburtino site is located in a strategically positioned area: between the A24 motorway (Rome–L’Aquila), State Road No. 5 Tiburtina and the Grande Raccordo Anulare (Rome’s ring road).
