The “Hamburgische Investitions- und Förderbank” (IFB Hamburg) provides funding of up to € 1 million to companies from Hamburg that want to implement innovative R&D projects on their own (PROFI Standard) or in cooperation with Hamburg universities or research institutions (PROFI Transfer), regardless of the industry.


This can secure your innovation and competitiveness and create new jobs!

Who is supported?

Companies of all sizes with an operating site in Hamburg from all industries and technologies as well as universities or research institutions cooperating with them.

What is supported?

  • Innovative research and development (R&D) projects aimed at new or significantly improved products, processes and services.
  • Single-company R&D projects as well as R&D cooperation projects involving several companies or with universities/research institutions.
  • Technology and knowledge transfer between companies and universities or research institutions (PROFI Transfer).
  • Eligible cost types are: Personnel and material costs, costs for patents, external services.

What are the funding conditions?

The funding rate is based on the size of the company and the type of project:
  • Large companies and experimental development: 25%
  • Small companies and research-heavy projects: 55%
  • Universities are funded with 100%.

How do you proceed now?

  1. It is possible to submit a project outline or an application at any time.
  2. Following the outline you will be invited to a consultation.
  3. After that you may submit the full proposal. The full proposal will be peer-reviewed and a jury meeting will decide on the funding.

Important decision criteria for a successful application are:
  • Unique selling proposition compared to the competition
  • Technological solution approach
  • Concrete, quantifiable project goals
  • Very detailed, comprehensible project planning
  • Detailed project costing
  • Marketing strategy

I studied molecular biology at the Universities of Hamburg and Lübeck - I was particularly interested in virology, which led me to specialize in human pathogenic viruses at the Heinrich Pette Institute Hamburg, where I completed my doctorate. During this intensive time in the laboratory, I felt a view beyond the horizon was necessary to my research and thus as a guest scientist I coordinated collaborative R&D projects in Scotland. Relatively quickly, my talent for coordinating and implementing interdisciplinary projects was to shape my professional career. Hence, in 2019, a position as network manager for the Innovation Network Industry 4.0 in Food Processing at EurA was the next logical step for me. Since 2021 I have been leader of the Agrifood team and shortly after was assigned the deputy head of the Hamburg office in 2022. As a mother of a 5-year-old daughter, I am an example for many young mothers, demonstrating - family and career is possible! My foresight, professional competence and dedication made millions of euros in EU project funding possible for our clients.
